Métis Artisan

Introduction

Nine years ago I moved to the Ottawa area to work for the Métis National Council. I am a member of the Métis Nation of Ontario and currently work for the federal government in the department of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada.

My Family

I met my beautiful wife, Sylvie, over seven years ago and we have been living east of Ottawa in a home along the Ottawa/Outaouais River. Tonka is our dog whom we saved from an animal shelter. Unfortunately, we lost his brother, Kodiak, during a snow storm. Tonka loves to go on boat rides and exploring the rivers edge for wood and of course, anything else his nose picks up.

Fishing for Wood

Each spring, God blesses us with amazing driftwood that floats along the river. We started by gathering some to use as firewood and then, we began displaying a few of the more interesting pieces along the river bank for our friends, family and boaters to appreciate.

As more and more driftwood passed by, I noticed some of the wood was extremely interesting looking so I began putting my artistic side to work by creating furniture, lamps and driftwood wall art.

My wife and I love going on our expeditions in search of special offerings from God.

The Inspiration

What you will find on our website is nothing short of a miracle. I can assure you that no matter which driftwood art you choose that it will be a centre of attention that will bless your home, friends and family with peace, hope and great positive energy.

"God bless"

The Wolf

In the Aboriginal world, wolves are considered sacred.  In fact, I'm told that the faint image of a wolf can be seen walking along the border of my property as if it's on guard duty. The wolf's eyes follow you as you walk across the yard.I drew the wolf on my workshop door as a tribute to my Aboriginal roots.
